Lawsuits Against Toyota Coming in Fast

Friday, February 5, 2010

Toyota has found a way to stop the gas pedals on their cars from sticking, but nothing will stop the lawsuits coming from the defective gas pedals. New York automobile accident lawyers think that Toyota is strictly liable for this defect in the accelerator.

According to the New York Post, a father from Queens was driving his daughter to college last summer and had to crash his Toyota RAV4 into a tree to stop it from accelerating. He, his wife and daughter suffered numerous injuries from the car crash. Last week, an upstate mom’s Toyota Camry smashed into the back of another vehicle due to the defect in the accelerator.

Many lawsuits have been filed against Toyota, citing the cars’ faulty design. One Queens resident was driving on the New York Thruway and tried to slow down but the brake was not working. He swerved to the left and hit a tree, which caused the car to catch on fire. A class-action lawsuit was filed yesterday in Brooklyn Federal Court alleging gross negligence by Toyota.
