The deconstruction of the Deutsche Bank building badly damaged by the September 11 terrorist attacks was first scheduled to be completed by early 2008. The second deadline was set for January 20210. However delays pushed that schedule back again, now, until the end of the year. Officials at the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, which is managing the deconstruction, claim that these delays are jeopardizing the crucial construction projects needed for the development of the World Trade Center site across the street. As a result, they are pressing the contractor to find ways to speed up the deconstruction while not compromising the safety of construction workers or people who live and work in the area. New York construction accident lawyers are watching the progress of the deconstruction carefully as officials balance safety with political and economic needs.
