Drunk Driver Causes Auto Accident on the Grand Central Parkway

Friday, January 15, 2010

A drunken driver caused a multi-car crash that started a fire and killed one man on a Queens highway on January 14, 2010. According to the New York Daily News, 28-year-old Michael Carrasquillo sped past bumper to bumper traffic on the Grand Central Parkway in Hillcrest and slammed into four cars around 4 a.m.

Police and witnesses said that Carrasquillo smashed into a 1996 Volvo, which exploded and burst into flames. The man in the Volvo died and the three men in the other cars were not seriously hurt. Carrasquillo was charged with driving while intoxicated and vehicular manslaughter.

Andrew Khadroo, who witnessed the auto accident in Queens, said, “This drinking and driving stuff, I wish people would just learn from all this.” New York auto accident lawyers agree with his statement since drinking and driving accidents are preventable.
