MTA Releases Accident Report of Crossings

Monday, December 14, 2009

The MTA released a new report on December 9, 2009, showing accidents and injuries at various crossings. New York auto accident lawyers think this report will inform commuters of which bridges and tunnels have a large number of accidents occurring. The Verrazano Bridge saw the biggest increases with 57 more accidents and 17 more injuries in 2009 than 2008. The Robert F. Kennedy bridge saw the biggest decreases with 78 less accidents and 10 less injuries in 2009 than 2008.

MTA officials said they will provide more personnel on the Verrazano to help decrease the amount of accidents and injuries. The Bronx-Whitestone, Cross Bay, Marine Parkway and Throgs Neck bridges and the Queens Midtown Tunnel saw modest accident increases. The Brooklyn-Battery tunnel and Henry Hudson Bridge saw decreases.
