Taxi Accident Causes Scaffold Collapse in New York City

Monday, November 2, 2009

A car accident brought down a scaffold in lower Manhattan. Late last night, two cabs collided at the intersection of Broadway and 8th Street in New York City. Apparently, both cars spun into the sidewalk and knocked down the scaffold that was protecting the adjacent building, causing the scaffold to disintegrate onto the street, endangering both construction workers and pedestrians.

At this time, no injuries to anyone working on the scaffold have been reported as the construction workers had not yet reported to work. It is still unknown whether anyone in the cabs has suffered any injuries.

This accident is just another example of the dangers that construction workers face in New York. New York construction workers face a bevy of on-the-job dangers as well as those created by negligent motorists. As such, we should further strengthen the laws that protect construction workers in New York.
