Jacqueline Franklin, 55, died in a tragic accident in which two cars collided in the East Village on October 23, 2009. Ms. Franklin was in her vehicle on First Avenue at 6:15 a.m. when it collided with a cargo van at East Fourth Street. Shortly after the crash, both drivers said they had a green light.
Ivan Marin, a witness, said, “I heard the wheels screeching, then seconds later a loud crash. I could tell the passenger in the minivan was hurt - she was very still.” Emergency personnel ripped off the roof of Ms. Franklin’s minivan in order to get to her. She was rushed to Beth Israel hospital, where she was pronounced dead. New York auto accident lawyers are awaiting the results of the police investigation.
