A tragic auto accident in Queens, New York, on October 26, 2009, has left one child dead and two others fighting for their lives. Sheilia Bethea was traveling in a Mazda minivan on Dunkirk Street near Liberty Avenue in St. Albans when her car collided with a Toyota minivan.
Ms. Bethea had 5 children in her minivan and was driving them to an appointment with their foster-care agency and said the gas pedal got stuck to the floor. According to the police, Ms. Bethea was charged with reckless endangerment for speeding and removing a seat from the van to fit all the children in.
A 15-year-old girl died at Queens Hospital Center after this horrific car crash. Four other children were injured. Two of them, who are 5-years-old, were taken to the hospital in critical condition. The two other girls were less seriously injured. The Toyota driver was Carl Williams.
